Turf cutting ceremony for the Test Centre

The EDAG Group, one of the world's largest independent engineering service providers to the mobility industry, is set to bundle its all-round test competencies and capacities in a new, future-oriented building at the "Waldmeisterstraße" site in Munich – in the direct vicinity of the BMW Group's Research and Innovation Centre. The turf cutting ceremony at Waldmeisterstraße 80 on 26.2.2021 marked the start of a forward-looking project, which is to be completed in the coming months by the construction company DIBAG in cooperation with property developer Max Bögl. EDAG's 140 EDAG test specialists will be moving into the two new building complexes in May 2022.
This will then provide 5,200 m² test area and a modern multi-storey office building with an area of 1,400 m². With this move, EDAG's test team will be leaving its old premises in the Weimarer Straße.

"As the entire test centre is on one floor, the new facility provides ideal working conditions, and the flexibly designed offices perfectly meet the requirements of a modern working world for our employees," explains Stefan Alde, Vice President EDAG Testing. "In addition, the new facility will enable us to significantly expand our portfolio of services relating to the validation of EE components, and to carry out our "SMART Test Lab" project. In the future, customers will, with the use of webcams and the live transmission of images, be able to track assembly, assessment and acceptance dates online, or check the status of a test part online.

EDAG already offers the mobility insustry a 360-degree range of trial and testing services for environmental simulation, functional testing, the validation of interior and exterior vehicle components, vehicle safety and EE component validation.

With more than 1,000 employees, Munich is one of the world's largest locations in the EDAG Group. "With the new EDAG facility, we will be able to offer our customers all-round, on-site testing capacity – top level, to meet the requirements of the latest vehicle categories, and with a maximum degree of digitalisation in the communication with our customers," explains Cosimo De Carlo, CEO of the EDAG Group. Investment at the Munich location is a sign of the future-oriented development of the EDAG Group, and also a clear commitment to our position in the Bavarian capital."

EDAG has firmly established itself in the automotive sector as one of the world's leading engineering service providers. The company has had premises in Munich since 1970, and has continuously expanded its competencies and capacities throughout the decades since then. The EDAG Group's plans for the near future also include continuing growth in the Munich area.
