Robots play a key role in the automation and networking of processes in the smart factory, which Continental has also been working on for some time.
Continental's incoming goods department receives a wide variety of goods every day, unpacks and checks them manually and stores them on site until they are needed. Our contribution to the successful realization of the automatic sorting station for incoming goods was the software that was developed in-house.
Continental used to unpack, check, sort and book the parts all manually. As the diagram shows, our innovative software now uses various camera systems and automation to recognize, scan and sort parts using their barcodes.
A robot, controlled by various sorting algorithms, grabs the parts from the conveyor belt and places them in the correct box. A software program is used to record the data in SAP simultaneously.
By using a new technology called OPC UA (OPC Unified Architecture) for communication interfaces and the data exchange of machines, we succeeded in creating a standardized interface in the direction of PLC. REST was used for the interface between the ERP system and the software. → Read more
Virtual collaboration has not only been around since the pandemic, but for a long time before that - because the digital transformation has been here for some time. We go one decisive step further in this respect by offering virtual and augmented reality technologies for production engineering. So anyone can work on projects worldwide - from the sofa.
Just like in computer games, we operate with game characters - called avatars - in our industrial applications. In virtual reality, we take an active part in this digital world, and can become fully immersed in it. Virtual reality (VR) glasses are our entry ticket for immersion.
