EDAG, the world's largest independent partner for 360-degree engineering in the mobility industry, is planning a massive extension of its Robert-Bosch-Straße site in Ingolstadt, which is to be developed into another fully integrated EDAG engineering centre. In addition to the comprehensive range of services it offers in vehicle and production plant development, Ingolstadt will also become one of the largest software and digitalisation hubs within the EDAG Group. This is the company's response to the steadily growing demand for digital services for the mobility industry. The EDAG extension in the Robert-Bosch-Straße is to be completed by the end of 2022, and will then provide a total area of over 18,500 sqm for office, testing and storage space. The company will then be merging several of its sites in Ingolstadt, Gaimersheim and Eitensheim, and providing space for over 850 highly innovative and future-proof jobs.
"The new site in Ingolstadt will be the ideal way of meeting our requirements for 360-degree engineering. By the end of 2022, a unique hub and think tank for future-oriented software and digitalisation services will have been created here in Ingolstadt," stresses Cosimo De Carlo, CEO of the EDAG Group.
The EDAG Group is already one of the leading suppliers of integrated engineering solutions and has established its position as an innovation driver of future-oriented mobility concepts such as the EDAG CityBot. There are few other companies in the mobility industry that can match the EDAG Group's impressive and comprehensive expertise and experience in the integrated development of products, production and digital solutions from a single source.
"Our commitment to the Ingolstadt site is a clear indication of the way in which the EDAG Group is continually developing, and of our own intention to further consolidate our leading position in the automotive industry," explains Holger Merz, CFO of the EDAG Group.
The company has had premises in Ingolstadt since 1977, and has continuously expanded its competencies and capacities over the last few decades. In addition, the location in the industrial estate to the south of Ingolstadt offers greater proximity to the new INCampus, a joint venture on which Audi and the city of Ingolstadt are currently working. Audi AG and its partners intend to carry out development work for future projects at this location. Ingolstadt is also one of the first 5G model regions that are to be constructed from next year on.
